The City and Guilds Certificate in Patchwork and Quilting consists of two parts: Preparing Working Designs, where one learns about design in general and is not specific to any particular craft, and Creative Studies part one. I had to do design work in six different areas: living forms, historical/folklore, manmade, media, landscape and sea/sky and then make one item in each of five different categories (see enlarged photos for details). I also had to prepare two Full Working Designs, which is a portfolio of designs for a particular brief with samples included.
